The brisk, cold weather did nothing to discourage art revelers from the launch of Art in Storefronts, a project lead by the San Francisco Arts Commission.
We are working to bring new light to this neighborhood through a dynamic collaboration between city agencies, community organizations, and the business community,” said Mayor Edwin M. Lee. “These vibrant public art works will attract locals and visitors alike, driving foot traffic to the neighborhood and stimulating the local economy.
It’s such a great project and is providing support and so many new opportunities for artists, art organizations, and creative small businesses. In my opinion, it’s a smart move on the part of the city to invest more in art and creative industry of San Francisco. I can think of no better way to support economic growth and stability than through expanded support of local creative entrepreneurs.
If you couldn’t make, here are a selection of photos from the night demonstrating why you should go next time….hint….because it was super fun, festive, and totally San Francisco!
You can see a video of Jord Peck’s performance here.
The entire night was a huge success and lots of fun. I look forward to the next Mid-Market event. I’m so happy to see so many arty places opening on Mid-Market and the large number of people coming out to support them. Next time, be one of them!
