It’s rarely, if ever, that I miss my single life. I suppose one of the advantages of getting married over thirty is that it gives you the time to do all those things that become more difficult with a partner and children. You know, sow those wild oats while crashing on friends’ couches after 3 red-eye layovers. There is one thing that I do miss dearly: the ability to jet off to New York to see major exhibitions of work that I love. The first time was for a Rothko retrospective at the Whitney. Next was Vermeer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the last Mathew Barney Cremaster Cycle at the Guggenheim. Now I’m wishing I could do one more trip for Alexander McQueen, Savage Beauty at The Metropolitan. I love McQueen’s work, and I could use a little springtime pilgrimage to NYC. I’m sure this show is stunning and will provide some fantastique people/fashion watching opportunities. For now, it looks like I’ll have to make due with the photographs.
